The Neptune Fountain, Holiday House, 1997

The Neptune Fountain and Antonio’s Apprenticeship came about because I wanted to know what education was like for great Renaissance artists like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. There were many interesting contrasts between their training and that of modern art schools.

“The rich, deep colors used in the landscapes and the clothing of the workers effectively suggests the Renaissance setting.”

School Library Journal

“Morrison painlessly imparts an enormous amount of information, delineating step-by-step the creation of a Renaissance sculpture; attractive illustrations echoing period color, line, and composition accompany this tale of a fictional 17th-century apprentice and his master.”

Luigi and Leonardo Corsanini, kind and extremely talented sculptors, helped me research this book. See their amazing work at http://www.corsanini.it
