I love teaching science. Assisting my students to become engaged with science through their own creativity is very rewarding. Their own wonderful interest grows by doing artwork, hands-on labs, and studying nature outside.

Teaching inspires book ideas! My books are so comprehensive that most of them require years of research. Universities and government agencies often use them to teach. Several of my titles have been translated into Korean and Japanese. During many author visits over the years, people have wanted to see more of my process—the sketches, storyboards, notes, and artwork. I have included some parts of the process on this new website, including a page from my sketchbook for Wildfire in the background here.
